I originally completed an apprenticeship as a car mechanic and recently finished my part-time training at the Higher College of Technology Mittelland in Grenchen (Switzerland) to become a “Certificated Business Processes Technician”. During my further training, I was on the lookout for a new professional challenge and came across Bystronic. In January 2017, I started as a prototype assembly technician at Bystronic’s headquarters in Niederönz. What appeals to me about this job is that you get to test and enhance prototypes, knowing that this product is the future.
For my diploma thesis, I deliberately chose a different field: machine maintenance. In order to develop further, it was important for me to look beyond my own nose. Subjects such as lean and process management have always interested me, which is why I wrote my diploma thesis on the topic “Implementation and standardization of TPM”. TPM is the abbreviation of “Total Productive Maintenance” and deals with the systematic servicing of machine tools.
My diploma thesis is a team project; I carried out the analysis and implementation together with the machine operators. Bystronic provided me with a great deal of support during the project phase. This enabled me to exchange ideas internally with specialists, and my supervisor allowed me to organize my working hours as required. The findings of my diploma thesis are already being put into practice with great success.
Today, I am a specialist for the field of TPM and support other projects in an advisory capacity. In addition, after completing my diploma thesis, Bystronic offered me a job as a test engineer for laser cutting systems. I am very much looking forward to this new challenge.
Extra-occupational training lays a good foundation for the next career step. Bystronic supports you in this and gives you the opportunity to discover new areas. I can only encourage you to apply now.
